After Walkin’, let’s get Strollin’. This tune came on my radar when a student asked me to help them arrange it for the piano. I wasn’t familiar with this Horace Silver gem. Gradually, the catchy melody grew on me. As with many jazz compositions by Horace Silver and others, this melody uses chromatic notes and upper extension notes. This and Blues For Alice is a great way to practice comping and licks over chromatically descending II-V’s.
