Along with Round Midnight and Straight No Chaser, It is one of Monk’s best-known works. It is famous for its chromatically ascending/descending chords. There are many recordings of the song that feature Thelonious Monk and infinitely more cover versions of a melody that has become a distinctive standard of the post-bop jazz era.
