This recording is one of the most soulful Miles Davis’ performances
I ever heard, and of this classic standard, by Thelonious Monk, in general. I have to agree with the following comment, someone made on the youtube page of this video: “I love Thelonious Monk. I think he was THE genius of modern jazz. But Miles has taken this song to another dimension.”

There was a movie made in 1986 named Round Midnight. It stars Dexter GordonFrançois Cluzet and Herbie HancockMartin ScorsesePhilippe Noiret, and Wayne Shorter appear in cameos. Dexter Gordon won a Grammy – Best Instrumental Jazz Performance, for the film’s soundtrack entitled The Other Side of Round Midnight. Hancock won the Academy Award for Best Music, Original Score.
